the story about some people looking at a spider and one
of the pundits, I forget which one, stepping on it saying, "We don't
waste our time on bugs."

Good for him. :-)

-----I susppose if the message was we don't waste our time on our fear, that would have been a good message.  But to make a cause for liberation in any being is a tremendous thing.

We are attached to our animals, that is, the species that humans have cultivated for their docile nature and other endearing attributes such as trainability, or soft fur.

But if one looks closely at a spider, without fear, and apreciates it then one also can feel the loving and joyful nature of life even in something so maligned. In fact, arachnids are quite beautiful. If one can get over themselves. So are all bugs. In fact, I caught a cockroach, a big one, and said a mantra for liberation and blew on it and threw it outside and I can swear it gave off positive affection for me through its fear.

A world without bugs is a world without plants and a world without oxygen or food and a world without humans. After chlorophill, chitin is the second most common organic substance on this planet. Humans might blow themselves to smithereens, but cockroaches will remain. It's best to make nice now. Maybe someday a cockroach womb will be the only one available.

Have a nice day. :)
