I think this one is true. Maharishi met with Carter when he was Governor, as you know, and they didn't exactly hit it off. When he was running for president, Dr. Margaret Brenman-Gibson (wife of playwright William Gibson) told me that she was close with Carter's main PR guy, and that he had told her that Carter had it in for TM, and said that if elected president, he would do all in his power to hamper the TM movement.
