It seemed clear from Lupidus' reference to the Dalai Lama as 
being "just another clever and good politician" that the 
characterization was meant to be a put-down.  I merely emphasized 
the put-down he implied by his statement. Perhaps I'm wrong and 
Lupidus was actually being complimentary.
