Yes, the "one" who began with the objective to find who or what that "one" was is extinquished in the process. That one(self)is not found because it was never present. Never present because it was predicated on a misapprehension of the situation. The "feeling" of a self is the misapprehension, the mistake of intellect, the false identity of pure awareness with limitations. The "feeling" is there only because pure awareness "IS", not because the ego is. Enlightenment/Awakening doesn't appear; ignorance dissappears.
