According to a San Francisco Chronicle article, the election will be won in certain key states, which include Florida, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. These states are considered the swing states. If Obama can win these swing states and hold the same states (blue) that voted Democratic from the last election, he wins. Essentially, the red states or those which voted Republican in the last election will support McCain and will vote accordingly. Texas is considered to be a Republican state. So, I don't think Obama will be campaigning hard in Texas. For the most part, the southern states are predicted to vote Republican as they did the last time.
