OpenOffice is the way to go. That's what it was designed for, to open Office files of all types on platforms that don't support MS Office (spit). The latest version of Microsoft Word (as modified when you "upgrade" to Windoze XP SP3 won't even open its *own* old files. You try to open a Word 2.0 file and it fails, telling you that you are attempting a "security violation." You actually have to download a patch from Microsoft to remedy the error that *they* built into SP3. OpenOffice rules. It does everything that Office does, and better, and on all platforms.
