It is similar to what I have heard Tibetan teachers say. For them, whether enlightened or not, the emotion of anger is a *choice*. You perceive the "warning signs" of the anger long before the anger itself manifests. Therefore you have a choice as to whether you allow it to manifest. If you do allow it to manifest, karma is generated. One aspect of that karma is the effect on the immediate environment. Another is the long-term effect on the person who manifested the anger, in the form of samskaric seeds that will affect him later in this life and in future incarnations. And still another is immediate and subjective and prob- ably what SSRS was talking about -- anger brings you down.
