*************

Fancy Indian restaurants bring in expert gourmet cooks from India,
just like other ethnic gourmet restaurants bring in name cooks who
are specialists in a particular cuisine -- for instance, sushi chefs
from Japan are brought in to work in pricey restaurants in the USA.

However, the cooks who are working for the pundits now are not making
the money they would be making if they were working in high-end
restaurants in India, and so they are not eligible for visas (and
that is exactly what Bob Wynne is saying, that the cooks that the
pundits need can't get into the country). If the pundits wanted to
hire a chef from the Delhi Hilton because of his expertise in Hindu
cuisine, they could do it, but they would have to pay a competitive
salary (and top chefs can make big bucks), and they would also have
to go through the process of first trying to hire Indian chefs
already here in the United States before they could hire somebody
from India -- that's the way immigration works. There are Indians
working in the restaurants in Fairfield, but they did not get here
because they were recruited by the scenario I just desribed, but
because they are relatives of people who have legal permission to
live in the USA -- relatives have priority in getting entry into the
U.S.

The thing you should be wondering about, however, is
not how someone in a crazy house gets access to the
Internet, but how an "Ascended Master" gets access
to the Internet. Are we talking ether-net here?
Are there little cozy Internet cafe termninals
nestled in the clouds? Do the Ascended Masters
need terminals and keyboards or do they just think
their messages and press their noses to Send? And
if you're an Ascended Master, do you cruise the
Internet during your "off time," or is spamming
the Net part of your day job? Either way, what's
the pay scale these days for an Ascended Master? Do
you get benefits, like dental, or a uniform (long
flowing robes and a crown)? Are there Ascended
Master groupies?

The mind boggles at the possibilities. At least we
finally have one of these Ascended Masters in our
midst. Perhaps he/she/it (Do Ascended Masters *have*
a sex? If so, do they have sex with other he/she/its?)
can answer the questions for us...

Unc

P.S. And what's a "Warrior Ascended Master?" Are
you telling us that the caste system persists even
after death? "Whooops...not over there, Newbie. That
cloud is reserved for the Brahmin Ascended Masters.
The Khshatriya Ascended Master cloud is over there,
on the other side of the tracks..."

It's no accident that President Bush needs a captive and disciplined group
for his speech.

Otherwise he might get a few annoying questions,

This is actually the basis of a famous koan posed
by the 17th Karmapa. He posed the question to his
students thusly, as recorded verbatim by one of the
scribes in attendance: "When you meet the Buddha on
the road, and fry him up and eat him, does the
resulting Buddha-burger have Buddha-nature? Burp."

Subject: The joys of unthreaded reading...

I've read with some fascination the discussions about Yahoo
and whether it handles threads properly or doesn't, but for
me the whole thing isn't really an issue. I understand that
many people are busy, and would like to be able to focus on
only the threads and subjects that interest them,

For me, however, reading FFL is recreation, something I do
for my own enjoyment, and reading the posts sequentially, on
the Yahoo website, actually adds to my enjoyment. I can even
come up with a pseudo-intellectual reason why. :-)

When I was studying with the Rama guy, there was a lot of
emphasis on career as part of one's spiritual sadhana. And
he pointed a number of us in the direction of a particular
field of computer science, relational database. His reason
for this (besides the fact that it paid well) was that in his
view working with relational databases was very much like the
Tibetan practices we used to perform in previous incarnations.
In those practices, a teacher would hold up a thangka painting
of an elaborate, incredibly intricate mandala. The student
would get to gaze at it for only a minute or so. And then the
student was sent away to visualize the mandala until he could
see it in his mind *exactly* as it appeared in the painting.

To some extent, working with relational database is like that.
There are all these tables, sometimes thousands of them. In
a big, distributed database, sometimes tens of thousands of
them. Each table contains data elements, which are related to
each other and to other data elements in other tables in num-
erous ways. And to be able to work effectively with such a
database, you really have to be able to construct a mental
picture of the entire database in your mind, visualize it.

That, to some extent, is why I like to read FFL unthreaded.
I just read each post in the order in which it arrived at the
Yahoo server. It's all a big jumble of data, written by
different people about different subjects and from completely
different points of view. And the task of "threading" it, or
making sense of it all and determining what the relationships
are between these different posts becomes your *own* task,
not the task of the software.

It works for me, because I like this place and I like the
people here and I like putting things together in my own way.
Some people may not see a relationship between a post dealing
with computer technology and another post dealing with the
best way to prepare and eat the Buddha when you meet him on
the road and another post that seems to have originated from
one of the Ascended Masters. There probably *is* no real
relationship between these different subjects, and between
the people who wrote about them, but I always manage to
find one.

The bottom line for me is that real life isn't "threaded."
You have to deal with things as they arise and organize them
in your mind as best you can. For me, Fairfield Life is
better appreciated the same way. Your mileage may vary...

Unc

Some Bio: http://www.vishwananda.org/swami.html
Shri Swami Vishwananda was born in 1978 in a Hindu family, on the
Island of Mauritius. At that time, he was given the name 'Visham'.
>From an early age he showed a keen interest in Spirituality.

At the age of 15, He went into/experienced the state of Samadhi
(meaning: experiencing intense union and direct communion with God).
>From that day forth he has dedicated himself to the spiritual
upliftment and transformation of mankind by guiding people to focus on
love and forgiveness, through Patience and Unity to reveal and
experience our Divine Reality.

Shri Swami Vishwananda started off his mission by erecting a temple in
Rose-Hill which is his place of birth - with this followed a calendar
of spiritual activities to be accomplished: Volunteers heartily
co-ordinated projects at both the Spiritual Level and Community
Service level which included Human Moral Value Classes for children
and adults, Study Circles, devotional singing, support and visits to
orphanages and homes for the aged, blood donations and the
organisation of multi-faith programmes. In 2002 Swami Vishwananda also
constructed a 'Shirdi Sai Baba Temple' in Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius,
where daily spiritual activities are carried out all year round. These
activities amongst other programs are personally led by Swami whenever
he is in residence.

Shri Swami Vishwananda embraces all religious paths, all cultures and
all races. He has a deep affinity with Jesus Christ, Shri Shirdi Sai
Baba* and Mahavatar Kriya Babaji*. He says, "There have been many
misquotations and misunderstandings of what Jesus actually said. His
true message is a message of love and acceptance, not of criticizing
and condemning others."

Swami Vishwananda, his name signifies "The Bliss of the Universe": is
here to uplift, inspire, and help people realise the 'Divine Light'
that resides within themselves. He says: "you have to look within
yourself, and not outside, for God is within each one of us as Love."
Sri Swami Vishwananda is therefore here to bring the message of Love
to everyone and will travel "wherever God sends him".

Swami Vishwananda is not looking for disciples, He says, "I do not
want people to depend on me, depend on the God/Guru within you. It is
a great miracle that God, the Divine Self, is within you. The Divine
Spark is within all equally, but only those who realise this are
awakened. When realisation comes, the veil of illusion drops. God is
always here, like the sun shining through a window. It is we who
choose to draw the curtains. God has given me the blessing that I can
uplift people spiritually and bring them to God realisation, which is
to realise God within. God does not have a form, but He or She is
within each one of us as Love.

Today Swami is providing help to people in various parts of the world
such as Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, France, Italy, Switzerland,
Germany, England and Wales.

Dude gets around. Over here he's the leader of
a fairly happening techno/synth/jazz musical group:

*lol* Yeah, didn't I tell you? I am the reincarnation of the 17th
Karmapa. Although, as anonymousff has astutely pointed out, in North-
western Tibet my title was pronounced the "17th Oneuppa."

If our great grandparents had spent half as much time sitting on their
rear ends as we do, we'd still be without electricity and running
water. And their shoes were undoubtedly a lot sturdier than the junk
some of us wear today.

Oh, yeah, didn't you know? St. Germain is a channelled Ascended
Master. That gives him the ability to assume the exact same interests,
biases, personality and consciousness as the person channelling him :-)

Ok, although it's not really related, except in my
odd mind, here's a topic that's led to fun discus-
sions on other spiritual forums.

When you look at spiritual traditions as a whole,
across the planet, isn't it fascinating how many of
them advocate celibacy for their clergy/leaders?
I mean, we're talking the Roman Catholic Church
and some other Western traditions, and many, many
Eastern traditions. And I'm sure we've all heard
the arguments for why celibacy is theoretically a
good deal for those seriously committed to a spirit-
ual path. The fun question that's come up on other
forums, however, has to do with how good this trend
is for future generations.

Think about this practice in terms of the gene pool.
In almost every culture that has spawned these trad-
itions of celibacy, the people who are expected to
become lifelong celibates are "the best and the
brightest." They often are among the few in any
given era who are drawn to spirituality strongly.
They often also have the best minds and the best
hearts of that era, in terms of how deeply they feel
about their fellow human beings and about being of
service to them.

Drawn by this desire to help others, and to help the
world, they gravitate to the priesthood, or take vows
as a monk. And what happens? The "best and brightest"
genes are effectively purged from the gene pool, and
never passed down to subsequent generations.

So what's up with that? It would seem to me that
logically nature would WANT these "best and brightest"
folks to pass along their intelligence and admirable
traits to future generations, rather than effectively
depriving future generations of the genes that support
that higher intelligence and more evolved traits.

Go figure, eh?

I know a good number of teachers, indeed whole communities of
practitioners and realizers who marry. I've even seen genealogies which
talk of various families in the Himalayas whose gene-pool is influenced
by beings from other dimensions.

Not everything is as it seems. ;-)
