The enactment of laws prohibiting the use of marijuana has little or nothing to do with its actual effects on the individual but everything to do with the racial prejudices and corporate self-interest at the time they were first passed, and subsequently, the vested interest in law enforcement agencies vis-a-vis civil forfeiture laws. Essentially, the DEA, ATF, and multi-agency drug task forces are self-funding organizations that utilize civil forfeiture laws to subsidize the continuing war they wage against Americans. As regards cannabis' value as an adjunct to a "spiritual" life, I would agree with both Kirk's and Grate.Swan's stated opinions on the subject.
