So this brings me to the real question -- If Neuharth is correct,
WHY is there no "strong, trusted, non-political voice" in the media
today, if not because of a relatively complete sell-out to the M-I
complex? Again, this is not a rant, just a question.

Rory,  sorry buddy, but your question does come off as a rant because it is a loaded question. Kind of like "when did you stop beating your wife?" You're assuming that the media is a sell out to the military Industrial complex and you assume we or at least myself , agrees with that premise, which I don't. Secondly, there is no strong A-political media voice because everybody has political views and it would be nearly impossible to keep them to one's self. Ask any journalist student today why he wants to  go into Journalism and the standard answer is "I want to change the world" or "I want to make a difference". All we can do as consumers of the media is wade through, it use your head, and seek what is really true and whatever you do, don't let the media tell you what to think or how to interpret events. Do that for yourself!
