Welcome back Llundrub! I very much agree with Sheldrake's conclusions about a morphogenic field. It seems very similar to the Maharishi Effect. Though I am not sure either are provable with research. Just too many variables in our human world. As to your question regarding the use of psychedelics or any drugs to enhance collective consciousness, they probably do in some minor way, though probably more like our dream state does, in reassembling reality in such a way that new conclusions can be reached. As far as their use to promote a rise in collective consciousness towards a more peaceful, coherent existence, I'd have to say probably not. After all, any psychotropic drug just takes the existing consciousness and selectively enhances it according to the drug's chemical make up. Based on what I've read and heard about communal living experiments in western societies in the 60's and 70's, there weren't any lasting breakthroughs in consciousness due to regular drug use.
