I've incorrectly assumed RD was male, perhaps due to the habit of ASSuming that a certain style of writing is more attributable to guys, and the handle sounded like a masculine choice. [I also thought "Sal" was a guy, thinking it was an Italian/Brooklyn sort of guy instead].
