I don't care if you've provided it for the entire *planet.* Unless you have personally experienced the serious effects of depression yourself, your opinion on what treatment is effective or not is meaningless.

You really don't know what you are talking about, do you? Repeating a false belief over and over does not cause it to morph into truth. Show me a study that purports to 'prove' that those depressives with hope fare better on medication than those without. You won't find it, as one of the main *characteristics* of depression is a profound lack of ability to hope.
