"Seems to be" are the operative words. Have you traveled or lived in muslim countries much? Have you gone to the muslim areas in your country? There are a lot of sweet gentle kind people there. I hope your assessment of "seems to be a majority" is empiracally based and not just some armchair, pipedream, dogmatic racism/religous bigotry. > while holding captive the other, silent by consent, Muslims. I don't like the influence of radical fundmentalist muslims and I don't like the power of radical fundmentalist christians. Though recently, I have been inspired by the power of radical fundmentalist muslims in resisting the horrific Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the 80's. Their courageous resistance, and their austere, spiritual ways are inspiring. I believe they were A major force, if not THE major force that caused the Soviet Union to crumble. > Note majority not by quantity here but rather by power etc. > > Their tolerance towards other religions is very small. And so are fundamentalist christians. And they are growing so rapidly. Their intolerance, bigotry and arrogance is quite scary, don't you think? > > akasha are you born Christian,Muslim ..? See adjacent post. I don't belong to a christian church or a muslim mosque. A spiritual leader that I like said we should find the best in all religions and use that. Thats what I try to do, but I am a laggard, I am not very deeply into any religion. But I do know Islam has some beautiful things in it and deep muslims can be the gentlest, kindest people you will ever meet. And I know the same of some christians. Though I also know that some so-proununced christians are the most bigoted, hate-filled, vengence spewing people you will ever meet. So I am not surprised that Islam has some fanatics also. What does not surprise me is that a lot of Islamic critiques of the west are worthy of consideration. A mirror being held up. A sort of wake-up call, another perspective to us that have lived in a sort of jaded land of licentuousness for years. On the other hand, with spiritual values, I think that a jaded land of licentuous may not be a bad thing. Bottom line, I am pretty analytical*, but quite spiritually open. I love the diversity of the expressions and appreciation of the Divine across all cultures. I simply wish people would look to the GOOD side of ALL relgions first, then start after appreciating that, start your religious and social critiques. *pretty and analytical is a nice juxtaposition, yes? Clear insight can be quite beautiful. To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!' Yahoo!
