And one might point out that the idea expressed by those words was not original with Jesus; very similar words were uttered by the very well-established historical figure of the great Jewish rabbi Hillel some years before Jesus is said to have delivered his own version: "That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn."
