Subject: [FairfieldLife] See through walls or off the
wall? California prosecutes Indian healer LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- An Indian-born Los Angeles-area spiritualist and self-professed healer is facing charges in California of practicing medicine without certification. Felix Babu Stephen, 43, is also charged with illegally possessing a controlled substance and defrauding a client of more than $200,000. Stephen told the Los Angeles Times he has an extensive client list that includes celebrities such as actor Robert Downey Jr., and singer Sting. He said he doesn't advertise his Ayurvedic treatments, but stays busy by word of mouth. Authorities allege he provided clients drugs, including hallucinogens and pills, during meditation sessions, and that one client, Anita Lenaburg, paid Stephen more than $200,000 over three years for what they said was essentially quackery. Stephen, who said he could see through walls as a child in India, but has since lost that power, denied the charges. "I'm a spiritualist. I teach people how to bring their spirit home and live with it," he said. He faces more than six years in prison if convicted in his trial later this month.
