I completely agree with your statement about focusing on the practical. Oddly enough, that is what drove my inquiry to Rory. After I saw the symbolic representations of the seven states of consciousness, by googling 'conic sections' as Rory suggested, I instantly reflected upon each, and verified whether or not each of them was an exact fit experientially for me, given the model of Brahman we were placing them in. As it turns out, they are a perfect fit! Those observations then led to my subsequent remarks on the seven states of consciousness vs being Brahman. If this had been a dry intellectual exercise, based purely on logical inference, I would've been bored also.
