Isn't "averting danger before it comes" exactly what Sheehan is trying to get people to do? What's done is done, but lessons can be learned from it for the future. Plus which, there's blame, and there's responsibility. Pointing out where responsibility lies for past actions and consequences may be the necessary first step to averting future danger.
