When meeting Lord Shiva, being on hands and knees doesn't cut it.  

Better to be faced down, laying prone on the floor in abject unworthiness, and 
crying in body shuddering sobs and having your hairs standing on end and 
abiding with your mantra: "have mercy on me Lord." 

And be prepared to have your head removed in order to create a teachable moment 
for all possible future histories.
