The question from my point of view, 28 years away
from it, is -- was it darshan or was it something
else, something more occult? I don't have an
answer to this question, because it really has
been so long since I've been in Maharishi's
presence, but I wonder about it sometimes.

I tend to see what I call darshan as being devoid
of intent. It's just light, dancing. When you
are experiencing it, it doesn't feel as if the
light wants you to do anything or believe anything.
It's not asking you to dance with it. It's just
dancing, for the fun of it.

And then there is another kind of energy that one
gets from some spiritual teachers, one that in
my opinion has a more occult side to it. You get
the feeling that the energy hitting you very
*definitely* has an intent behind it. When you
sit in this energy, you very *definitely* get the
feeling that you are expected to do something
and believe something.

But it really has been over 28 years since I last
saw Maharishi, and at that time I hadn't been
exposed to a teaching that taught you to tell
the difference between the two energies. So I
really don't know which was going down with him.
Personally, I never experienced a great deal of
what I would call darshan with him, period. I
definitely agree with the comments here this
morning by those who did, however -- there was
a certain swept-up-in-it-all-ness about being
around him that was pretty fascinating, and
still is.

If others, having seen him more recently, have
any comments to make, I for one would love to
hear them.
