Maybe this is how spiritual maturity manifests itself; after starting with a kind of creepy inner need one mysteriously grows in ways that cannot be anticipated, and at some point the whole trip falls away and one lives a life mostly spontaneously without a focused sense of seeking anything beyond what is happening at the time.
