No, you misread the whole thing (as it a was miselading extract). It 
was Jay Lathom telling Maharishi (in the 1970's) about an experience 
he had on heroin 5 years before (even before he took up TM). He 
didn't tell Maharishi it was a heroin trip but MMY probably 
suspected enough. That does not invalidate Jay's experience but 
heroin is no way to go about it. Maharishi was just taking it at 
face value. No-one ever 'touted it as a TM enlightenment 
experience'. The original extract that was posted is misleading 
without backgroound info.
