Absolutely -- but we're not talking about the sex slave trade or
sheiks and harems or any kind of sexual assault which are completely
different in terms of the power dynamics.

Back when I was in DC, corporate clients would occasionally want to go
to a strip club. My impression is that the women were clearly the
ones in control both superficially and in terms of subtle energy. One
stripper I talked to during her break was at georgetown law school and
another was a grad student at george washington. They were very
liberated intelligent women who were making 5 times the money they
could at typical student jobs. They said they enjoyed the dancing and
sensuality of their job which was seen as temporary.

This is a function of the differences in male and female sexuality.
Tons of studies showing men are turned on primarily by the sense of
site (nudity) whereas females have a more complex sexual response
mechanism involving all the physical senses plus emotional and social
cues.

There are a growing number of feminist writers like paglia and others
who are much more accepting of female sexuality in all its forms than
the early more puritanical feminists. I think there's a lot of
unhealthy puritanism in the eastern spiritual trip as well.

In short I'm all for fighting the sexual exploitation of women but
don't want to support the sexual neutrality, the lack of sexual
polarity and shakti that you tend to see many spiritual circles.
