The one thing I do like about any monarchy, is that when it is working well, as in the sandinavian countries, it sets a good example, of service by the rich and powerful, beyond them just making big bucks, and flaunting it.
When my dad was a diplomat, he did it on a government salary, but 99% of his fellow Foreign Service Officers were independently wealthy. Nonetheless, they saw it as their obligation to both serve in WWII, and for their country, afterwards.
