Well I'm trained in all the stages of meditation, in theory and practice--and that includes the side effects, the benefits and the pitfalls. It does help to have the "big picture" to be blunt and TMer's are largely in the dark in this regard. It is different for different people--for example some people, probably due to purvapunya (past life experience), will gain stability with only a little impetus, even with TM--that is--they will transcend the entire session.
