From what I've read, Rama was able to use mass hypnosis - that's much
less complicated than your theory of the placebo effect, with the TM
puja, repeating the names of the Hindu Gods and all the mantras and
other stuff with the camphor and DHMO. Hypnosis also has the added
advantage, if so desired, of causing everyone except a chosen one or
two, to totally forget the whole levitation demonstration.
The only problem is that the Rama levitation event cost several thousand
dollars of your paycheck just to be a spectator for one single flying
episode. In order to view a hundred of these demonstrations you
probably had to pay in excess of $100,000 over the course of thirteen
years. And, you still can't fly or even bun-hop very high. Go figure.
