I liked it's down to Earth no nonsense explanations, except for the dubious whimsy of the "sidhis" chapter he added later obviously... Seems a shame that he hasn't moved on anywhere really. He comes across like yet another new age guru still confused about quantum physics and consciousness. But I admire the optimism, if only we could actually gain understanding about something just by looking at it, but that's never happened. Science progresses by conjecture and criticism, people meditating isn't going to give us any special knowledge about anything, least of all consciousness. In fact, I can't think of a worse way to try and understand the mysteries of the mind than by introspection, it doesn't matter that mystics the world over report the same experience if all they are doing is mistaking a change in perception for some sort of external truth - that the universe is made of consciousness. I wish it were true, but meditation isn't going to save the world. None of its revelations have given us any useful information about ourselves, it'll be dull old testing and conjecture science what explains it. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, <rick@...> wrote : New Interview on Buddha at the Gas Pump - 06/30/2014 blog updates from Buddha at the Gas Pump If you are not doing so already, please consider donating a minimum of $1 or $2 per month to help offset basic monthly expenses associated with hosting, MailChimp, etc. Of course, larger donations for other expenses are very much appreciated and needed.
