its roots in the theistic Vedanta traditions. In many ways, it is a
tantric tradition - symbolized by Krishna, male, juxtaposed with Radha,
female - energy polarity.
Yes, I was active in ISKCON in 1971-1972 and I never was abused in any
way. The characters and events at New Vrindavan do not reflect the
movement as a whole - they were just isolated events. You will find
goons and radical misfits in almost any large organization. Over the
years I have made a detailed study of many deviant spiritual groups
including ISKCON and the DLCS (Divine Love Consciousness Society)
located about a mile from Radiance, the TM Ideal Village near Austin.
