When my wife and I were at Swami Rama's ashram in the Poconos, we
gave shaktipat just casually to someone in their dining room--he did
it by throwing his mediation blanket to the person. The person
immediately went to the floor and "locked" into meditation posture.
The people there picked him up and took him to a room they had just
for such occurences (lights dim, temp. controlled). He stayed that
way for two days in samadhi.
