You really can't have it both ways, Share. We are either free or we are
bound. If free, then there would be no reason to employ a yoga; if bound, by
what means can we free ourselves?
Based on the theory of karma we all get our due based on the idea that whatever
goes up must come down. There's no human levitation because that would negate
the law of karma, cause and effect. So, we are bound by the physical laws of
causation - this applies to everyone in the physical as well as the mental
world (samkaras) of human existence.
We are what we were. This law applies to everyone without exception.
The only way to be free is to be able to transcend the physical world of matter
and our own mental preoccupations. In order to free oneself, you must go beyond
mind and intellect and experience the pure consciousness (samadhi). The path
from suffering is the introduction of the pure consciousness thru yoga.
To rise above (siddhi) the limitations of name and form and *isolate* the
Purusha. Otherwise, you are bound to suffer in this world by the mere fact of
being born, living, age and death - nobody gets out of here alive, but yogis
enjoy.
