So I'm mentally ill because I enjoy participating in
this forum even though I don't think it leads to
knowledge of The Truth?

You're conflating a bunch of different things here and
creating a false dichotomy for the sake of a putdown,
Irmeli.

I never said it wasn't relaxing or that it didn't foster
growth and evolution, nor did I say it didn't lead
anywhere. You made all that up.

Ultimately, everything in one's life experience leads to
knowledge of The Truth (even being bored, for that
matter).

But to say that is *not* to say that participating in
this kind of forum somehow accelerates that process
significantly more than other kinds of activity. For
me, it doesn't. Your mileage may vary. A given
activity doesn't necessarily work the same way for
everybody.

As I said, I enjoy the mental exercise. I believe
mental exercise is beneficial for its own sake. But
there are lots of ways one can get mental exercise.
I could get mental exercise by, say, learning Swahili,
or by trying to analyze the stock market. I wouldn't
enjoy either of these activities so much, however,
because they hold little interest for me.

I participate here because it's interesting to me, and
therefore I enjoy it. As you say, the mind always
goes in the direction of greater charm. Participating
in this forum holds greater charm for me than any
number of other activities.

And along with every other activity I engage in, it
*ultimately* contributes my to knowledge of The Truth.
But I'm not here because I think the discussion is
going to *reveal* The Truth to me.

I could be wrong, of course. For all I know,
something somebody says here might trigger a
revelatory flash of insight. But so might a whiff of
bus exhaust, as I believe MMY once said.

I'm just not *looking* for it here any more than I
look for it in bus exhaust. If it happens, terrific.
If not, that's fine too.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying myself. Sorry you seem
to think that's an indication of lack of mental health.
