No, the point is this, when Bush became President and put his policies in effect, the Democrats resisted them so aggressively predicting doom and gloom at every turn, that if the policies succeeded, it made the Democrats look stupid and Bush smart and if they failed and caused problems the Democrats could gloat and say "we told you so". Which makes one wonder where are the loyalties of the democrats, with the good of their country or with the good of their party. Right now, the Democrats and various other leftist have spent so much political capital demonizing the President  over his policy in Iraq that they can't afford for it to work and Iraq to become a democracy capable of standing on its own two feet because that would mean Bush was right and they were wrong and all of their emotionalism would make them look the fool to not only the rest of the country but also the rest of the world. Victory in Iraq is not an option for the Democrats not unless they can claim they engineered it in some way which at this point would be next to impossible to do. The only thing they can do is demand withdrawal of troops now in hopes that when Bush does see Iraqis ready to stand up and ours can start coming home, the democrats can say," See , we made him start bringing them home!"
