You know, I really do wonder what sort of criteria these accreditation
associations use to determine if a school is up to par. I mean I know you can
get a BS in computer science, and all that, but you can also get a degree in
health that leads you to being an ayurvedic consultant? And not any ayurvedic
consultant, but a MARSHY ayurvedic consultant.

And physics? Where they teach that consciousness is the basis of all physics
stuff and make this statement in their physics program PR:

"The most creative physicists have always emphasized human consciousness as
the foundation for the scientific method used in physics."

 Now what does that mean?

I can't see that it has any actual meaning. It seems to be vague enough to
have plausible deniability if challenged but, if you are in the know, is
elevating their own theoretical physics to higher acclaim than it deserves.

How creative does a physicist have to be?

The more the better I would have said, and that goes for all sciences.
Progress comes from ideas and the refining process of criticism of ideas. And
they all come from creativity. Sure you need to be smart enough to understand
the ideas that others have held so you cane see where they went wrong in order
to have a better idea as a solution , but it's the coming up with new theories
for looking at things that moves us forward.

But all this seems to be in flat contradiction to the primary mystical
teaching that supreme knowledge only comes from inside via transcendence. Go
figure...

At any rate, they must have low standards if they keep giving MUM any sort of
accreditation.

I think you can get away with all sorts of crap like creationism etc, if you
turn out enough pupils who can turn on a computer or have learned something
that doesn't depend on the belief system to the extent that you can't mix with
other students with a different set of assumptions. Most humanities subjects or
practical trades would do here. It's things like physics, biology and Earth
science where you may fall down because teaching stuff that is demonstrably
untrue isn't doing anyone any favours and will get found out if they ever go
somewhere more empirical.

I was visiting friends who had kids at the Marshy school in Skem and their son
- who was expert at maths and planned to study physics at Oxford - proudly
announced that he had got an "A" in joytish. I nearly choked on my lentil pie.
What sort of preparation for a real education is that? I wonder if they teach
it but tell pupils not to mention it when they get to the outside world as they
"wouldn't understand". It turned out not to matter as he rejected the whole
vedic thing using his own smarts.

Yup, MJ's dropping an unqualified slur in here is in kin with someone running
in to a mosque and detonating an IED like happened the other day in Saudi
Arabia. Like the terrorist in the mosque it was meant to hurt a community of
people and in this case is plainly against the spirit of the Yahoo-groups
guidelines.

No, MJ's post to FFL as a Yahoo-group quite clearly was not even close to
satire as he posed it. As posted it was flat out a slur employed to insult and
damage reputation.

If it was intended satire it would have directly manifested humor and irony
juxtaposed in some level of truth. What MJ did here was evidently drop in a
baldfaced lie leaving it left unqualified, as a slur.

Caught now, he is frantically diving for cover now.

MJ at the least should apologize to the North Central Accreditation Board
members he has defamed with his comments here if not the whole of the
university community of MUM. It is really quite appalling what he has done
here by most any standard of common decency, let alone by the Yahoo-groups
guidelines ultimately guiding us in this forum. -JaiGuruYou

That's what I did Bucky, and unintentionally pushed your buttons as well.

Dear MJ; No, yours appearing here was a flat out slur and you are diving for
cover now trying to say it was satire. Even Anartaxius with his enormous
intellectual power here is saying he missed it entirely as satire.

What you dropped as a rhetorical IED here does not even come close to satire.
Unqualified as you dropped it in here on a Yahoo-groups its effect quite
evidently is to damage in slur MUM and those associated with it.

them or damage their reputation.

I doubt that, MJ. You are calling in to question the integrity of the whole of
the accreditation system by saying that. Your assertion likely is just one of
those folk stories that people will tell and repeat. Rather, your response here
without any qualification seems just a slur. Who offered the bribe and who took
it and did anything with it? It very likely would be criminal if it happened.
Which accreditation team was it? Which year?

designed to develop the student’s total potential for becoming a sheer idiot.

The curriculum offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in the arts,
sciences, humanities, and business, but also integrates unproven and highly
questionable mind altering practices. All students, faculty, and staff practice
the Transcendental Meditation® technique, which turns a person into a brain
dead bliss ninny, debilitates their health to the point that we can sell them
yagyas and various and sundry nostrums, and enhances their ability to believe
damn near anything we tell them.

Other innovations include taking one course for 3-1/2 weeks with a three-day
break between each course which is a classic mind control technique as it
allows us to control the flow of information, and organic high carb, low
protein vegetarian meals to weaken their systems, making them more susceptible
to mind control. Visitors Weekends are held throughout the year. Come on down
and join a neo-Hindu cult!
