The only real difference between #1 and #2 is viscosity. Spiritual seekers are always trying to grasp #1 in order to step over #2, but they both come from the same source, so trying to separate the two only leads to vexation.

I haven't been following this conversation carefully enough to really comment, but the two snippets from it above make me think it would make a great low-budget horror movie. Something like "When Enlightenment Fades," starring Nicolas Cage as both the enlightened coworker and the psychopath he turns into when his #1 experiences turn into a pile of #2. :-)
