ebill, Good point. However, polygamy brings other hosts of problems. Such as, how can one guy afford to have several wives? How many children should the extended family raise in order to give them adequate guidance and education?
As an aside, the IS movement probably would encourage polygamy among their members in order to raise more children as jihadists for world conquest.
