Shh, we don't want everyone to know about the lower orders.. The BBC is the closet thing I've got to a religion. I've no idea why so many in government dislike it, probably for Murdoch related reasons. The commercial stations don't like it because it gets a guaranteed income but the quality generated by the Beeb is awesome, 4 decent channels, God knows how many radio stations and most of it is pretty damn good. You can pick and choose what you like, I go for history and science documentaries followed by decent drama but there's enough sing-a-long game shows to keep my mum happy. I'd rather see the lowest common denominator commercial crap banned rather than lose TV without adverts. The only TV I ever really watched was BBC TV growing up over there. It's estimated that Top Gear used to earn the BBC 42 million pounds per year, and from the sound of things, the new Top Gear with new hosts is not likely to be as successful. It has always amazed me when people say they like Top Gear, I think it's appalling! But it's the BBC's most lucrative show, each to their own I guess. What I do like about it is the way it supports the sort of things I do like, all those minority interest documentaries and new comedy shows. Be a shame to lose any of that but they will scrap the whole organisation sooner or later, it's all part of the plan to destroy everything we care about in society.
