Without the shakti of the guru, a mantra, while having
some effects, will not produce them same effect as a
mantra that has been "charged" with shakti. MMY even
mentioned this once when asked if people who read one
of the TM mantras from a newspaper and start to
meditate with it would experience any benefits. He
said they would, but it would be very slow.
