12-lesson course with Dr.Bevan Morris, What Maharishi Did in the World — 1955 to 2008 — And How the World Has Changed. This course is being held March 11 - April 18, 2019 Monday and Thursday evenings 7:45 - 9:15. in Dalby Hall and online.
These were steady hour and a half powerpoint presentations that started with Guru Dev Brahmananda Saraswati in India of the 1940’s and then came forward through decades in time incrementally through each lecture. As an editing of history by Bevan he kept to the very narrow presentation of what Maharishi did in the world, with very little consideration outside of that and with very few people noticed outside of what Maharishi was doing. “..and some other people were there.” This was not a reflection on how big the teaching of TM got to be and how small it became; of where did all the people go? The meditators, the initiators, the Yogic Flyers, the movement? Bevan quoted Maharishi at one point only reflecting that people left, Maharishi saying he ‘had to do it’. In total it was interesting to hear the recounting of the peace projects, where all it was that people were sent, went to meditate for peace through the years, starting with “Peace Battalions” back in the 1960’s. That was a lot of brave work in many ways. Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, the peace assemblies in North America. Peace projects, Like 1982, his boarding an airliner in the early 1980's flying to China for a chunk of time in China conducting with an entourage group of meditators, teachers, pundits, the Shankarcarya, and scientists. Then also a week followed taking this group in to the Soviet Union. Turns out Maharishi facilitated groups of pundits in places chanting from way back, in the 1960's too. As Bevan tells the story Maharishi was evidently persistent in this way in the world up to his end. Remarkable in its way, Jai Guru Dev. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, <dhamiltony...@yahoo.com> wrote : Dear Sunshine, Actually these periodic travelogue presentations of the global TM movement given by Bevan are quite interesting to assess. Part of a discovery after MMY’s death was just how far and developed the .org TM movement reached around the world. Each and every continent had developed w/ decades old dedicated long-term TM teachers, centers, built schools and such. A couple of years ago Jerry Jarvis sent me a thumb drive of 500 hours of MMY lectures that I made available through FairfieldLife. At the time it was interesting to see from where around the globe people contacted me and who all wanted to get copies of the thumb drive at the time. Jai Guru Dev. However, Given the slide in the Fairfield Dome meditation attendance numbers, the collapse of the pundit program, and the demographic/actuarial erosion of donor base then everyone living in and around Fairfield, Iowa should be very interested in attending these meetings. Just the brick and mortar school as we see it as an anchor of communal TM here could easily move somewhere else. In five years the ‘University’ could look very different from the way we see it now and be somewhere else. For instance, take a look at these haunting pictures of the TM movement at the center of America.. 437331Re: Images of the Brahmasthan https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FairfieldLife/conversations/messages/437331 https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FairfieldLife/conversations/messages/437331 Or in context, Further back in the archive.. 120565Brahmastan is so cool!
