You would NOT want to visit Uttar Kashi these days. The town is sprawling, polluted, and all that ... Plus it has a curfew, and the 'vibes' are really low. Not the pretty place I visited in 1976 and definitely not the saintly area that TMer's are encouraged to imagine about. Actually, nowhere in the area is unspoilt, including Rishikesh, remember India is desparately under-resourced, and has no showcase places for relatively wealthy westerners to live out their fantasies of spiritual India at least certainly not in Rishikesh, Uttar Kashi or near to Jyotir Math.
