I'm not saying he doesn't believe this, or even that
it might be true if the leadership deserved following,
but someone should point out that this is exactly what
a cult leader would say if he were trying to instill
in his followers not only absolute obedience but a
tendency to "explain away" any cognitive dissonance
they might feel. If one believes this advice, the
tendency would be, when encountering things that just
don't feel right, to do nothing and wait.
Might I also suggest that this is pretty much the cause
of most of the things we believe are wrong with the TM
movement, and that some of them might have been avoided
or prevented if people hadn't been taught to keep silent
and wait. And, of course, if the leadership had actually
been willing to listen to feedback.
