Different situations. in the Gita, there's an allegorical fight between pure good and pure evil. In WWII, the lines weren't QUITE so clearcut, but close enough. In the current situation, while you can make a case that Al Qaeda-style terrorists are durned close to pure evil, the fight is being taken to civilian populations who may or may not have ANYTHING to do with the enemy who is supposed to be the target.
