Yes. I don't think core inclinations and motivations change that much in a generation. What changes is the environment and culture, what kids are exposed to. And they will legitimately react against the "excesses" of thier parents. Our parents rebelled against the frugalness-- born from the depression -- of their parents by focussing on "making it" nice houses and big cars. Boomers rebelled against the shallowness and corporate-nature of their parents. GenX rebelled against the chaos, serial marriages, disorientation of many of thier parents. And are career focussed, women seem to take their husbands name a lot more -- having grown up with hyphenated names on steroids. (All of thes view are groos generalizations. Assume I am referring to 40-50% or each cohort. Many splinter segments of each cohort could be characterized differently). So on the surface, each genration seems different. But I sugget its the same core inclinations, motivations and inner spirt reacting to different environments. > > The current generation are just not interested in sittin' still. > > They have been over-whelmed with video games, ritalin, Godless > > education, heroes like Paris Hilton, brain-washed by corporate greed, > > this generation is completely lost. > > They haven't got a clue; they live in a world driven by chaos... > > Everything about the art and music expresses this. > > This sounds like what was said about Elvis and the Beatles and the Rolling STones, > marijuana and TV watching habits when we were young. haha. yes. every new cohort of teens and young 20's are "godless", "the end of civilization", decadent, have insanely bad and primitive music, are sexual animals, dope fiends, etc -- as seen be prior generations. > > High prices for TM, just reflects their lack of interest. > > If it were offered for free, > > These younger people haven't got the time; > > For such nebulous things, like meditation... > > R.G. Perhaps not all 45 million. But I disagree if you are suggesting that a mere 2000 of that 45 million, 1/22,500 might jump at a chance for an intense, 12 month course of intense joy and growth, for FREE --- IF a tight core group of such, who are established in there cohort and its life (not MSAE kids) were exposed to YF in a group of 1000-2000 and get totally jazzed by it. > Yes, they are very focused on getting jobs and making a living. Many are like this. Maybe 30-35 million -- using guessimate round numbers. What about the other 10-25 million? Things go in cycles, > and at some point, this generation or their children will really really need some silence. yes. Its an inherent quality of ALL generations. Sometimes the opportunity and exposure manifests, sometimes it does not. > Meditation may seem intriguing, especially if future brain research has some good things > to say. Yes. Brain research, peak performance research, health resarch, could suddenly make a wide range of yogic, meditative and tantric practices very kewl in the 18-29 year old cohort. Its hard to predict when a forest fire will start to rage. It just takes a spark. Few predicted it in 1964-5. Yet it occurred.
