Although the Oregon Petition has its detractors, at least it was an attempt to get a consensus...and 19,400 signatures is pretty impressive. Al Gore, who consistently says there is a consensus amongst scientists that global warming is the threat he says it is and who claims the debate is over hasn't, to my knowledge, come out with a list of scientists he claims is part of that consensus and if and when he does, I doubt it will be anywhere near 19,400. Another "consensus": 99 senators (out of 100, the 100th wasn't present for the vote) voted against the Kyoto protocol. Let's quote Bill Clinton at this point regarding the Oregon Petition. What did Clinton say when confronted by Chris Wallace regarding his flaws about going after Bin Laden? He said: "No, I didn't get him but at least I tried," So, Judy, the Oregon Petition may be flawed and you may have a problem with the people behind it but as far as getting a "consensus" at least they tried.
