Currently, there are 130,000 Hindus living in China. However, our "discussion" on a.m.t. was concerning the spread of Hinduism and Hindu sanskrit manuscripts during the era of the Silk Road--200CE-1000CE. While it is certainly true that most Indian manuscripts collected from that era were Buddhist, there was a fair number of Hindu manuscripts of all descriptions collected by Chinese, Cambodian and even Japanese scholars during that time. They are now found in manuscript collections in various countries, including India, the USA, the UK, etc. Ironically, for many reasons, there are possibly more old Hindu manuscripts found outside India than inside. As far as Hindu temples in China goes, there was a Hindu temple in Quanzhou built during the Yuan dynasty. Addtionally, Chang'an, the capital of the Tang dynasty, had temples for all the major religions found along the silk road, including Hinduism.
