I guess no-one has an intelligebt answer as to why Westerners in
general do not eat meat-eating animals (dogs, cats, bears, etc)

Why don't fish and chicken count? Westerners do eat bear although I hear it is very greasy,  tuff and not that tasty. It was much more practical to raise sheep, cattle  and goats for food and dogs were often used to help heard and protect them. Dogs were also used for hunting game so it wouldn't be wise to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Spair had also made the comment that it was much more efficient to feed vegetarian animals which could graze on pasture land than to constantly kill other animals to feed the meat eating animal you would intend to eat for yourself. Meat also spoils easier and could carry disease i.e. the green monkey virus, trichinoses and is difficult to store for long periods. So feeding meat eating animals for your personal consumption is not practical.
