(For Sanskrit [Harvard-Kyoto] "apaaG" and "praaG")

In English the combination "ng" for instance in "wing"
represents one "phoneme", the guttural nasal (I believe),
much the same way as "th" in "that" or "bath" represents one phoneme, 
dental fricative. You can check this out by pronouncing
"wing" and (ad hoc compound word) "win-get", simultaneously
observing the position of yer tongue.
