I'm sorry, but you're either an idiot or a prevaricator. > Kerry's words were very obvious if > you ever heard them. They were repeated many times. Yes, they were. And they were obviously not a slam at the troops *because it was Kerry who was saying them*. > Had Republicans edited the tape you might have a point. > Only after what he said blew up in his face, in the media, > did he say it was a botched joke. It blew up in his face almost immediately, right after the Republicans started screaming about it, having realized they could make big political hay by pretending he had insulted the troops. And then, of course, the "librul media" picked it up and ran with it--even though they had in their hot, sweaty little hands the text of what he had been supposed to say. > He should have had an apology ready right then Right then when?? How could he know the Republicans were going to lie about what he had meant until after they started doing it? He most likely wasn't even aware he had botched it, let alone that the Republicans were going to lie about it. , but refused and he waited too long, with too many of his > own party members demanding he apologize publicly, today. What he still doesn't get is that the Republicans are too good at this kind of sleazy tactic for an actual explanation to do any good. He was outraged over the tactic, and I don't blame him for not wanting to apologize for something he never meant, when the people accusing him knew very well he had not intended to insult the troops. Even though he had nothing whatsoever to apologize for, he *should* have apologized earlier in order to shut the filthy Republicans up sooner.
