It is bunk, because it is way too subtle. You can watch the direct macroscopic effects of lunar cycles on oceans and since the human body (and most creatures) is made up of 90% water, then it is totally logical to assume that there are effects upon the water that is the body also and the mind. Totolly rational and logical. However, planets and stars and sub-star interactions, are way too complex and subtle for a mathematical system to predict. That is why Maharishi says that the true value of Jyotish is on the Ritam Bhara Pragya level. In other words, true prediction is acheived by the superfine subtle functioning of the mind that is finely attuned and attentive to the the activities of the universe...ie: the enlightened perception. Not some mathematical system. It will always be inferior to the mind.
