It's no wonder Jung focused on the mandala as a central icon for study. The mandala or four gated palace has been the focus for unfoldment of the destiny for many peoples.
I remember when I was a child dreaming I went into a castle with four exits and wandered around looking for the way through it, or the way out. Which gate was I going to focus on. One led to the ocean, one to the sand, one to a mountainside and one was fog. There was a feeling of wholeness present in all directions. This mandala was me. Later, we listened to Rig and Sama. Why? Because it shows the flow of silence as it moves, all meaningless really, but pure expressiveness. This purity of expressiveness fresh from beyond time always present presence. This mandala is what we are. And then in the Vajrayana we learn to be established and perform the four liberating actions for the benefit of all. Each person is their own yajna. All sentient beings altogether the whole mandala. All primordially beyond time innately from the very present and manifesting expressively to bind and confuse or liberate. I liked how Bailey and Besant defined the black brother as the person addicted to glamour who promotes objects and concepts as if they are self sustaining and evident, when in reality there is nothing self sustaining and evident. What is evident is that one awareness has various aspects but merely as expression and utterly pointless. There is no point! Or rather all the points are equal in the sameness of presence. Empty, clear, flowing. Rishi, devata, chandas, dharmakaya, sambogakaya, nirmanakaya.... the mandala is the self as much as it can be known, each point is no different from any other point as no point is self supported or rather, each depends upon the next for sustainance of which there is no first point, thus mere awareness is the only extant key to understanding left. And the only practical starting point for technique or tantra. Thus one starts from their wholeness as the mandala with four gates and focuses on a liberating action for the betterment of all. This knowledge prevents much confusion and falling away from wholeness through forgetfulness. Rather one maintains freshness always and can then continue on in samsara healthily as a free radical scavener of society erasing tensions and conflicts and helping the health of collective mind. Seeking seeking seeking bam there is nothing left to seek. It is empty and all seeking is empty. There should be no more. One should be firmly convinced of understanding this seeker as this aggregated being as free of all qualities and perfectly liberated as is. Nothing is left to be accomplished! All is finished! Amen. The Kingdom has done come already, thy will has done been done already. How long will it take humankind to realize that each person is the starting point of freshness of expression of what has already done been finished from the start. But people have yet to even open the book and start to read their destiny. The book is written but the story hasn't been started yet. This is the mandala.
