Vaj does not give clear cut reasons, why other types of meditation is better that TM.

Well I don't think anyone asked. It's really a complex question, probably unsuited to a list with almost endless bickering. But the brief answer is really quite simple. If you have a particular technique, it's much more advantageous to have the entire path of that style of meditation. TM provides a wonderful and important subset of a very profound path. But it is also a known entity--that is the idea of uniqueness is a lie, plain and simple. TM is a well- known form of mental japa and it extends into other practices beyond manasika-japa (easy, mental mantric repetition). And there is more than one path that includes manasika-japa. And there are many variants on it.

There's a reason for these variants: people are different. A cookie cutter approach is not as efficient as sadhana geared to the student by the guru or spiritual friend. Getting to know someone and love them is just simply a better way to know what they'll need. Would you rather have a mother who did what she did you for based on a book or salability or because she loved you and understood your inner needs through her inborn love for you? I'll take the latter please!

That's also not to say that some people will need more than a basic technique, the most profound integration and unity can also be the utmost simplicity. So for some people, it is certainly possible that TM alone would be sufficient, no?

It really boils down to being able to pass on something in the most suitable way for the different types of sentient beings. The most efficient and compassionate way is to meet beings where they are.

That's it in a nutshell, of course you could say much, much more. But this list is no longer well suited for such lengthy questions.

In terms of "movements" my main prerequisites would be total org transparency and based on interdependence not hierarchy.

If your group lacks either of these: run.

A distinction should be made between a True believer and True fanatic.

The only fly in the TM ointment is the TM-org itself.!!

TM is an ancient technique, a tool for seekers seeking peace. but, the TM-org is a major irritant.!

SSRS never made promises that he could not keep.

That is why his AOL mov't is on a much better footing, much more vibrant.

If you have doubts, ask Dr.Pete.

Maharishi, unfortunately has bitten off more that he could chew.

He should have thought twice or even thrice before introducing the 'sidhi program', 'Flying program', 'Purusha group', 'Full page adverts'.......

Excessive publicity is a dangerous thing. It can burn a man. Like a moth attracted to a flame gets burnt, too much publicity can damage the organisation.

A silent mov't would be far more successful.

Actually I've NEVER said TM was a fraud--quite the opposite. Although I'd now recommend people who really wanted to learn this style of meditation to learn SSRS's technique as it is a superior evolution of TM IMO. A better org too.

Just don't make the mistake of it being the 'be all and end all' like the fundies.

Personally I find the similarities and common ground of various tantras, whether Natha, Hindu, Buddhist, Bon or Jain all incredibly beautiful.
